Client’s brief:

The customer’s wish was to revamp a 60’s Bathroom into a Resort style Bathroom. Their instructions were to construct a tiled partition wall, concealing a toilet suite on one side and a shower recess on the other, with a feature wall hung vanity on the exposed open wall.

Scope of Works:

  • After completely gutting the old Bathroom we installed a new ‘Hammersley brown’ aluminium window with a slider either end and a fixed panel in the centre – slightly wider overall than the original.

  • The existing brick rendered walls were carefully restored and extended from picture rail height to the ceiling. The new walls were ‘white set’ and the window edges ‘square set’.

  • New ‘Sydney Cove’ cornices were installed to provide an affordable, contemporary design which compliments a variety of decors.

  • A new timber partition wall was constructed in a ‘T junction’ off the middle of the window to allow ‘walk in’ style compartments for the shower and toilet areas. These two areas were concealed behind a 1200mm feature wall hung Marquis Vanity with a Caesar stone bench top and a crisp white semi-recessed basin. Above the vanity was a 1000mm x 900mm frameless polished edged mirror set flush with the surrounding tiles.

  • Underneath the vanity we installed LED strip lighting to create a floating perception and provide evening mood lighting.

  • The left hand compartment contains a ‘Caroma Invisi Smart Flush toilet suite’ with a concealed ‘in-wall’ cistern operated by two (2) pneumatic buttons mounted on a stainless steel plate above the suite. In the right hand compartment is a ‘walk-in’ style shower recess with a Stainless Steel grated drain installed across the entry. The shower recess features a stylish ‘Mizu’ mixer tap with an unusal ‘Phoenix Luscio’ shower arm.

  • On your immediate left as you enter the bathroom is a free standing egg-shaped ‘Park’ bath, with mixer tapware at one end and a curved wall mounted spout in the centre.

  • The shower and toilet compartments along with the rear and vanity walls are highlighted with a black feature 900mm x 330mm ‘Brunei Gris’ porcelain tile. This is augmented with a much lighter, warmer, steely grey 900mm x 330mm ‘Natal Gris’ wall tile and 300mm x 300mm floor tile.

  • The unique use of tile shades deliver a distinct and unusual ambience to this highly sophisticated yet functional bathroom.
